Acne-Free Skin Is Important to Teenagers

Acne, zits, pimples…call them what you want, but nobody wants them. Acne is a common condition in teenagers. Just how much is it worth to be acne-free? A recent survey found that teenagers are willing to pay more to be completely free of acne and related scars than to be just partially free of acne or to have scars. Their parents are willing to pay as well.

Conventional acne treatments can reduce acne from 40% to 60%. However, according to the research conducted at the University of California at San Francisco, teens want acne to be completely gone. In fact, teens stated they would be willing to pay alot of money to be acne-free. Partial clearing of acne or being free of acne but having scars was not of value to them. Teens with severe acne were even willing to pay even more money and spend more time with treatments than those with less severe acne. Knowledge of these treatment expectations are valuable as researchers work on treatments in clinical trials.
